“Trust in government is at record lows, and a big reason for that is people feel there isn’t a lot of transparency and accountability,” said Bierlein, of Vassar. “Oversight is a fundamental responsibility of the Michigan Legislature to ensure government is working as effectively and efficiently as possible for the people it is serving.
